Day 156:
“What plagues me as an artist is my own self-doubt, hesitancy, fear, intimidation… I am sure this is the case for most artists. When you are in a collective of talented people whose work and ideas you truly respect, and who also respect your work and ideas, it’s like having your own personal cheerleaders. I know my collaborators want me to succeed because my success is directly related to everyone’s success. I know my collaborators want me to learn and grow because my growth and learning is also theirs. I wouldn’t be the artist I am today without their patience and encouragement.”
-Alexis Powell, of the Meerkat Media Arts Collective (second from the left).
“We are like one giant snowball rolling down a hill. Each member picks up skills, experiences, and inspiration, and it is shared with each existing member in the group, so that we all grow with one another exponentially. Thanks to the laws of gravity, we’ll keep rolling, just getting bigger and better. Plus, we make some mean snowmen and women!”
- Sally Bergom, of the Meerkat Media Arts Collective (third from the left).
“Of course you can make art on your own, but what excites me is the spark that happens when we put our ideas & inspirations together. The whole is much more than the sum of our parts and through working together and really listening to each other we are able to dream up – and pull off – the impossible.”
- Jay Sterrenberg, of the Meerkat Media Arts Collective (forth from the left).
